How do I change or cancel my PPL PRS licence?

Check the agreement for notice and renewal terms, then contact PPL PRS with the account number, business name, premises, requested effective date and reason for the change. Explain whether you are closing, moving, changing business activity or stopping one type of music use.

Ask for written confirmation. An account can require an amendment rather than a cancellation if you still play music at a new premises or in a different way.

Use the current TheMusicLicence site rather than relying on an old invoice instruction.

You do not need a separate PPL PRS licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by PPL PRS's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from PPL PRS for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
