How do I check a PPI invoice?

Check the legal business name, premises, account number, licence period, tariff, devices and stated music use. If the invoice is issued through the Dual Music Licence, ask which amount relates to PPI sound recording rights and which relates to IMRO musical work rights.

If any information is wrong, contact the issuer with the invoice number and supporting details and request a written correction or itemised explanation. Keep the invoice and correspondence.

You do not need a separate PPI licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by PPI's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from PPI for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
