How do I change or cancel a PPI licence?

Check whether your agreement is direct with PPI or is an IMRO and PPI Dual Music Licence. Then provide the account number, business name, premises, requested effective date and reason for the change.

Explain whether you are closing, moving, changing business activity or stopping one source of recordings. Ask for written confirmation of the amendment or cancellation and the date charges stop.

For the combined route, start with the IMRO licensing portal. For a direct PPI query, use the contact route in the current PPI agreement.

You do not need a separate PPI licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by PPI's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from PPI for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
