Does my business music service cover PPI rights?

It may cover the recordings it supplies, but a provider's licence to supply or stream music is not automatically your PPI public performance licence. Check the written terms for Ireland, the catalogue, premises, playback method, copying and any other music sources.

You must also consider IMRO rights in the musical work. For common business playback, verify whether the Dual Music Licence is still required for your premises and use.

Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control through the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate PPI licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue. The IMRO licensing portal remains relevant to other music sources.
