Why does OneMusic New Zealand represent APRA AMCOS and Recorded Music NZ?

The two organisations represent different rights in recorded music. APRA AMCOS administers rights in the musical work, while Recorded Music NZ represents rights in sound recordings for recording artists and rights holders.

OneMusic New Zealand combines the licensing route for common business uses, so a business can apply through one service instead of contacting each rights organisation separately.

You do not need a separate OneMusic New Zealand licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by OneMusic New Zealand's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from OneMusic New Zealand for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
