What does a OneMusic New Zealand licence cover?

A OneMusic New Zealand licence gives the business permission to use music in the way described by the selected licence. The available categories include background music, hospitality, retail and service, hair and beauty, exercise, music at work, events, music on hold, digital delivery and music in video.

The licence is not automatically permission for every use, territory or recording. Check the terms if you add live events, copying, online delivery, video or another premises.

The Recorded Music NZ business page lists the main business uses covered through OneMusic.

You do not need a separate OneMusic New Zealand licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by OneMusic New Zealand's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from OneMusic New Zealand for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
