What does a OneMusic Australia licence cover?

A OneMusic Australia licence gives permission for the Australian music uses covered by the selected category and tariff. Depending on the licence, that may include background music, featured music, live performances, radio or television played in the business, or another specified use.

It is not a blanket permission for every possible use of music. Music in a business website, a livestream, a video, an advertisement or a copied playlist can involve separate online, reproduction or synchronisation rights.

Compare your actual use with the current OneMusic Australia licence categories and ask OneMusic in writing if a use is not clearly listed.

You do not need a separate OneMusic Australia licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by OneMusic Australia's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from OneMusic Australia for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
