Do I need a separate licence for live music, events or online use?
Possibly. A background music licence is not automatically the right licence for a live performance, DJ, concert, livestream, website stream or video. These uses can involve different tariffs and additional rights.
For online video, the musical work and the sound recording may require separate permissions, and synchronisation rights can be relevant. Describe the complete use to OneMusic and ask for the appropriate written licence before publishing or performing.
The APRA AMCOS online guidance explains why online use should be checked separately.
You do not need a separate OneMusic Australia licence if you only use MelloJam
If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by OneMusic Australia's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from OneMusic Australia for the MelloJam playback itself.
A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
