Does my business music service cover IMRO rights?
It may cover the music it supplies, but a provider agreement is not automatically an IMRO public performance licence for your premises. Check the written terms for Ireland, the catalogue, the premises, playback method and the type of use.
Also check the sound recording rights and whether live music, radio, television, copied playlists or other sources are excluded. For ordinary recorded music, the relevant Irish route may be the Dual Music Licence.
Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control through the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate IMRO licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue. The IMRO licensing portal remains relevant to other music sources.
