How do I change or cancel a Global Music Rights licence?

Check the agreement for notice and renewal terms, then contact GMR with your account details, legal business name, premises, requested effective date and reason for the change. Explain whether you are closing, moving, changing the business model or stopping one type of music.

Ask for written confirmation of any amendment or cancellation. Stopping a music service does not automatically cancel a direct GMR agreement, especially if the business still plays music from another source.

You do not need a separate Global Music Rights licence if you only use MelloJam

If your business plays only MelloJam music through the MelloJam player, you are not using music from the repertoire covered by Global Music Rights's licensing route. MelloJam's original catalogue and the commercial playback rights it controls are included in your MelloJam plan, so you do not need a separate licence from Global Music Rights for the MelloJam playback itself.

A separate non-waivable venue charge can still apply where local law imposes one. Radio, television, Spotify, other recordings, live music, DJs, events, copying and online use are outside the MelloJam plan.
