Does my business music service cover Global Music Rights?

It may cover the GMR music supplied by the provider, but GMR says provider licences can be limited to that supplied music and to establishments without an admission, membership or similar charge.

Music from live performers, radio, records, television, the internet or another source may need direct GMR permission. Check the provider's written scope and compare it with every way your business uses music.

Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control through the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate Global Music Rights licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue.
