Does a business music service replace Entandem?

Sometimes, but do not assume it. Re:Sound says a background music supplier may pay the required fee on behalf of the establishment depending on the subscription terms. Entandem's licence still depends on the use, premises and agreement.

Check whether the provider pays Entandem or only licenses its own catalogue, and whether the arrangement covers SOCAN, RE:SOUND, your locations, copying, live music, radio, television and other sources.

Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control through the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate Entandem licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue. The current Entandem licence process remains relevant to other music sources.
