Does a business music service replace the IMRO and PPI Dual Music Licence?

Not automatically. A provider may have permission to supply a particular catalogue, but your business must still check whether the provider's written terms cover public performance in Ireland for your premises and use.

Check whether the service covers both musical work and sound recording rights, and whether copying, live music, radio, television, online use or another source is excluded.

Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control through the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate IMRO or PPI licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue. The IMRO licensing portal remains relevant to other music sources.
