Does a business music service cover APRA AMCOS rights?

Sometimes, but do not assume it. A business music provider may have its own licence or may include permissions for a defined catalogue and use. That does not automatically prove that your business has permission for every APRA AMCOS use.

Check whether the service covers your country, premises, playback method, catalogue, copying, live use and online use. Also check whether your business must still hold a OneMusic Australia licence.

Our terms answer the MelloJam case directly. We own the compositions, recordings, performances and catalogue, our catalogue contains no third-party music, and your plan includes the commercial playback rights we control when you use the MelloJam player. If your business plays only MelloJam through the player, you do not need a separate APRA AMCOS licence for the MelloJam catalogue. The only exception in our terms is a non-waivable government, statutory or collecting-society charge that local law imposes directly on the venue.
